Does a high limit effect credit negatively?

My wife just applied for her 1st "real" credit card, and they've offered her a $12,500 limit on it. She already accepted it, but I'm worried that may effect her credit negatively. I've heard that high limits on cards can pull down your FICO. Is this true?
