I would say ignore it. Now is the time to protect your assets. You have bad credit, you might be sued, protect your assets now. If you ever paid the original creditor with your current checking account, close the account now and open an account in a different bank with your spouse as primary( if possible). Make yourself judgement proof. Be prepared for the worst. That worked well for me, eliminated a lot of stress too.
