Wow.. what a scam !! Did you ever report those credit cards stolen ? If not, why not ? When you discovered charges, that is the FIRST thing you should have done. What you need to do now is file a police report for identity theft and then go from there disputing the charges as ID theft and fraud. The fact that you waited 2 years isn't good, but you may still be able to do some damage control. What state are you in ? Creditors WILL allow additional charges on a maxed-out account - they make TONS of money on over-limit fees, late fees, and jacking up the interest rates. I'm sure WhyChat and perhaps some of our other resident lawyers will have some other suggestions on what to do. After all this time, its likely all the original creditors have long-ago sold the accounts to collection agencies.
