Old Debt--Financial Credit Services???

I just received a letter from a company called Financial Credit Services in Palatine, IL. It's for an old Discover credit card which I think I last paid in 1994. This is the first time anything has been sent to me on this account since I defaulted with Discover. It's a very generic letter which doesn't give any info on the account except my name and the amount owed. I plan to request validation however I'm not going to mention SOL yet since the letter gives no dates on the account. Is this the correct thing to do? I'm currently being sued for another old debt so I want to take care of this before it gets to that point. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
