I have a B of A visa card that is for ATM as well as being a check card or debit card, whichever term is correct. (as you can tell i know little about this)

A friend told me these are not secure enough and to use my credit card instead, only using the check card for ATM duty. I talked to a B of A rep who told me there are secure. But then thats a biased opinion, isn't it. I want to use the check card because it would allow me to buy online and in stores w/o having to worry about paying the card off to avoid interest like with a CC But i cannot figure out how to find the absolute last word, the TRUTh about this ! You can't trust the bank because they're of course not gonna tell you if it's a risk of any sort.

Can someone help me find out how secure using my B of A platinum check card is compared to my CC for buying online and at walk in stores? Thanks..
