What do you mean by "the new account"? If your account was sold to a CA, it's still "the old account" as far as you are concerned. Now you will have two entries on your credit report: One for the old original creditor, and one for the new bad-debt purchasing CA. Paying the CA will only nail that debt to your credit report like a horseshoe.
