It depends on the jurisdiction you're in. In my county, regular mail for a motions notice is fine once you have filed an appearance. The deadline for delivery is three court days before the court date, and delivery is considered complete four days after the notice is mailed. Certified or registered mail is not a requirement once personal jurisdiction is established.
