In response to Whychat's validation letter that I sent to them certified RR. I now have a letter saying they refuse to validate, because they first sent a letter on August 25,2003.

I have never received any correspondence from them. It's a lie.

The letter also states that I have 10 days to pay them $5,000 on this Discover Card debt that they now claim is $10,000. Only problem here (for them) is the charge off date is in 1997. It's been nearly 7 years and Florida has a 4 year SOL.

Is it best just to ignore the letter and wait till the 30 days are up (date on returned green card is 3-9)?

If they still haven't 'validated' (and of course they won't, since they just blatantly refused), what do I do next? Send copies of the letter & CRR to the FTC? The CRAs?

Just need a little clarity on what to do next. I'm hoping I'll be able to get this taken off my CRs next month. Will sending them copies of my validation letter and CRR greencard be enough?
