To Settle or Not to Settle....

Okay, I am at a point where my head is spinning...every other person I speak to advises me to settle with the CA/law firm and avoid court, while many of the regular posters on here advise the complete opposite and say NEVER deal with a CA...I am reading so much information on so many sites, I feel like I am being drawn and quartered ( which would mean the CA would probably grab buckets to see what minerals they can extract from my blood ) ... Without being repeatedly sued and harassed by collectors, how do I go about repairing my credit if OC doesn't want to communicate with me?
