NAF, File of Claim

Today, I received an official looking form that says Wolpof and Abramson, on behalf of MBNA have filed a claim against my husband ($16,000+). Is this the time to send a validation letter? It says we have 30 days to respond. We haven't paid for 4-5 monthes. We can't afford payments or settlements now either. What to do?
