If you didn't sign the credit card application or if you ex-husband opened the account with you as an Authorized User, you legally owe NOTHING to these people whether it's within the SOL or not!

First of all, it's well beyond the SOL for almost every state of the Union, so these are scavengers who couldn't even make your ex pay.

Second, you need to immediately send a cease and desist/dispute/SOL letter CRRR to these vermin. Check Why Chat's web site (you'll find it in the NewComers post) for instructions on how to do it. Find out through validation if you are listed as the authorized user on the account, if it was only your ex who signed, if you signed and forgot about it, or if it's totally bogus...in which case they will never send validation and should go away.

Third, OPT OUT with ALL CRA's to keep CA's like this one from poisoning your credit report. Why Chat also lists instructions on how to do that.

Fourth, if the CA EVER calls back without validating the debt, SUE THE HECK out of them. And NEVER talk to them. Leave a papertrail a mile long, but don't talk to them.
