I got served a letter today from the police from Silver Fox Financial, Lp. The letter is titled Complaint on a contract. It basically says that i have to pay $7640 and if i pay it within 10 days they will waive the attorney's fees. I looked on my credit report and this account was closed in 11/2002. My questions is how do I respond. I live in the state of Georgia, but the credit card was opened when I lived in Alabama. I have also typed the letter below. In the Superior Court of Glynn County State of Georgia
Silver fox Financial, lp Plantiff VS My name Defendant Civil Action # Complaint on a Contract Comes now, the Plantiff in the above stated action and shows the court the following: 1. The defendant is a resident of said state and county and subject to the jurisdiction of this court 2. The Defendant is indebted to the plantiff in the principal sum of $7640.40, as a balance due under the terms if a credit card agreement between the parties dated March 9, 2000 which contract is presently in default. 3. Deman has been make upon said Defendant for the balance due. Depsite said demand the defendant has failed and refused to pay. 4. The defendant is hereby notified that plantiff seeks to enforce the attorney's fees provision contained in the contract. If the defendant pays the full principal sum and accrued interest demanded within 10 days from the date of service of this complaint said defendant, no attorney's fees will be cliamed. If the full principal sum is not paid within 10 days after service of this complaint hten attorneys fees pursuant to OCGA 13-1-11 will be charged. Wherefore plantiff demands judgement against the defendant for the sum of $7640.40 principalm $1853.01 interest plus additional accruning interest at the rate of 23.99& up until the date of judgement, $905.54 attorney fees and all court cost. Signed Attorney's office of Bridgers, Peters & Kleber My question is what do I need to do?
