Greetings,
I would like to know the statue of limitations for owed debt for past due accounts and the time collectors have to file against you in the state of IL? I have looked all over but come up with complex paragraphs that mean nothing to me.
I need Illinois because I now live in Illinois and my understanding of the law is the state that a person lives in is the state that bill collectors have to file against you to collect, even if you lived in another state when making the debt. Is this correct? When does this rule not apply?

Thank you
