The problem is NOT that this is an internet forum, but that each person has a different problem, although they may have much in common with others, they need to find their own answers for their own situation.

No one gets INTO debt the exact same way as another, no one DEFAULTS for the exact same reasons as another, so it is futile to expect a "cookie cutter" solution.

If you live in a State with homestead exemption and no garnishment, it may be best to let things slide, get sued and wait out a judgment or 2.

If you are, however in MOST States, and validate pre SOL you take a risk even if you have no assets, no job and lousy credit.

Why risk a judgment that may haunt you 5 years from now when you DO have a job and are trying to get credit?

If you are being harrassed, change your phone # to an unlisted one, or send a LIMITED cease and desist in longhand on yellow lined paper saying you cannot for health reasons be called at home, and will lose your job if you are called at work.Write that you want them to ONLY contact you by mail.
