Debt negotiation with the OC definitely can't hurt you, the worse you can do is not come to agreement. If at all possible, try to negotiate a "Pay for Delete". i.e. you pay them $XXXX and they agree to delete your account from the CRA's but make sure you get this in writing from them before you send any money. If you can negotiate this, then you won't have a negative on your credit report. I haven't done this yet, saving up money to try and negotiate.
