Something to think about. Some mortgage lenders use a credit report that goes in depth. The items never really "fall off" a credit report. They just simply go below the seven year window that others are allowed to see. Those who have special clearances (such as high security clearances, government mortgage firms, and federal agents) can in fact look at your entire payment history and know it all.

Some mortgage firms look deeper than seven years. Be wise. The mortgage broker may be in cohorts but he may be on the up and up and he may be telling you that in order to get a mortgage, your mortgage lender will more than likely look deeper and want to know why you didn't pay this.

When my mother shopped for a conventional loan mortgage, they looked at her ENTIRE CREDIT HISTORY and when back to 1967. It never falls off, just out of view. The only way for it to fall off completely is for it to be disputed and deleted.
