i would wait and let it fall off, myself. i think paying just may stick it on longer than ever as it shows activity. now..if you do get a mortgage, they will make you pay any charge offs. that i DO know. i think he wants you to pay so you buy from him, personally. if he isnt cooperative and on your side..find another who is. there is a lot out there who are. i would wait so you dont have to lose the money off your mortgage. :) my 2 cents*
