Summons Served/Settle or Fight???

I was served with a summons and complaint on 3-16-04 with a court date set for 3-22-04. Should I contact the attorney's for the OC and try to settle or go to court and fight? I've read about filing a Motion to Dismiss, but I have no legal background. Help!!!
