Another question in reference to settlements

Is it beneficial at all to settle for a small percentage with a CA? I know they are the scum of the earth, but are there any entries that can be made to benefit me by actually settling with them? Or am I screwed in the first place? I wanted some of my smaller credit card debts to go back to the OC to settle, but no such luck. Seem to just keep changing hands. I hate to file BK, because I do have a private source for a loan to settle most of my debt. Any thoughts? My only real goal is to buy a house. No need for any other credit. I own my car. Thanks again for any help.
