For Cat - How harassment is defined

Sort of bumping this up from a thread far below....

Cat, my point is that the phone company can prove who calls you, when they called, and for how long the call lasted. Just because it says OUT OF AREA or UNAVAILABLE doesn't mean that the *phone company* doesn't know! If someone is calling ten times in a row every 30 seconds (and YES, I've had this happen several times a day), it's harassment, pure and simple.

Some of us are thick-skinned enough to turn the ringer off, take the phone off the hook, or use their computers to screen call (my personal favorite). But some people have ill relatives, or children who may need to call them in an emergency, etc., and *can't* stand the idea of missing an important call. Those people are at the mercy of the abusive CA.

For the latter, I say quit whining and CALL THE PHONE COMPANY to see what your options are. GET A TRAP put on your phone by the phone company. Order call logs, if they offer that service. Pay the phone company for Privacy Manager so that the phone doesn't ring unless you know who it is. Get a new unlisted number. Your PHONE COMPANY is getting paid to provide you with PHONE SERVICE. As long as you are paying for that service, demand that they do something to help stop the abuse.
