Yes, FTC regs mandate CA's validate upon demand and cease all collection activity until they so do. Now, don't demand validation if the debt is within SOL, it's asking for trouble. Dispute the debt by all means, just don't ask for validation. Remember, CA's seldom have the records required for proper validation. Failing to validate is a violation as is improper and/or incomplete validation. The latter the usual method used by CA dog-doots in hope of fooling people into giving over their assets.
