I was on one with Discover. We agreed to an amount and then they sent everything to me in writting..stated the amount and how long it would last. It was auto debited from my checking account each month on the specified date.

Lasted 3months and they took me off without any warning! They said they decided what I was paying wasn't enough, and told me if I couldn't pay more or settle, they would charge it off. Well, I couldn't do either of those things, so now they get nothing! The ca is now NCO.

I feel they breeched a new contract and if they sue, go ahead. Since I was paying, and have all my paperwork-notice of new agreement and receipts for payment-the ca has little leg to stand on. I'll give them the amount I was paying the original creditor, lol. Oh and the CA denies knowing anything about Discovers Hardship Agreeement with me. I told "her' on the phone, I have the papaerwork so you can't dispute it! She had little to say after that and I haven't heard from them again in weeks....yet.

And yes, the account is closed permanently. They sent me a letter stating that too.

I do have another Discover account that is still on a hardship program-has been for 6months now. The balance on that acc't is a lot less than the other one was.

Honstly, I think what happened was-depending on who you talk to in the oc's collection department, makes a difference if you get put on one and if it stays put.

I tried to be on one for Bank One but it was a no-go. So now I have a charge-off from them, and a smaller acc't behind in payments.
