They probably get an arbitration award. But, that does not mean that they can collect. Protect your assets now. If you have ever paid the original creditor with your current checking account, close the account and open an account in a different bank with spouse as primary if possible. Your homestead and wages are exempt from judgement in Texas. If you protect your banking info, they can't garnish and your homestead is protected, there isn't much they can do unless you have other valuable assets. If you don't have the money, you don't have it!!
