I read and post here daily. I am not a Texan, but have read here, that because Texas is a non garnishment state, with homestead exemption (they can't touch your home). If the CA can convince a judge that you are likely to take money out of bank account in order to avoid paying the debt, a judge can order a freeze on your account. That does not mean that they can take your money, but neither can you. Having your account frozen is very inconvenient, causing checks to bounce, and I have read that the bank will charge a hefty fee for it too. Why Chat always recommends that you go to a different bank, so that is what I recommend. Closing your present bank account and opening a different one will certainly help. It's up to you.
