The "Opened" date for a CA doesn't mean anything as far as reporting is concerned. HOWEVER, no collection can survive the obsolesence of the ORIGINAL debt. So, if this Discover has already dropped off, the CA's tradeline shouldn't even be there ! They are violating the FCRA and you can nail them for it.

Are they reporting a DOLA ??

Dispute it with the CRA's as obsolete because its a collection for the obsolete Discover account. You might also be able to dispute it as illegal re-aging if the DOLA has been changed to be different from the original debt.
