asset searches/question?/ how do they do one?

what do you mean..about getting information from 3rd parties? cap 1 always threatens me with asset searches and they have pulled a inquiry on my CRs every month for a year now, as is Triad.. ..obviously watching to see if i buy something or want to..so how do they do a asset search??? thank you for any answers! i missed this place soooo much. :)
