When My account got close to SOL I got two offers from them, one to use my taxes to settle for +/- 60% and later one to settle for 55%. I also tried early on to negotiate and got no response. It turned out to be a blessing as I almost lost it all trying to meet the high $$$ keep us from suing you, keep your credit clean plans. I finally told every one this is what I can afford period, take it, leave it or sue me - BUT I will no longer compromise the house, car, lights, water and basic needs or rob Peter to pay Paul just to appease you this month. I agree settlement is best if you have the $$$ and it's a realistic plan. I had to have a big reality check on over committing - even on hardship and settlement plans. Everyone called for a while and apparently decided that I didn't have it to take and just gave up. Good luck, I'd say sit tight and eventually they'll either appraoch you with their own offer or just sell off to a CA. Could sue you but that doesn;t seem to be the norm.
