broke & unemployed, file BK now???

I have lots of credit card debts(about $70K from 10 cards). They all went to charge-off 2 yrs ago and only 3 CA keep calling my cell. I'm currently unemployed and have no assets and money. Is it a good time to file bankcruptcy now? Or should I wait 4 more yrs until the SOL expire?(the SOL of my state is 6 yrs).
If an employer checks my credit before hiring me, does it make any difference with a bankcrutpcy vs lots of unpaid charge-offs?
