yes, if you tell us your state and the date of the debt..there is no such thing as a "non-sue-able state" --just know these CAs will tell you anything. personally i am taping all calls with any of mine..telling them, of course...hahaha..."by continuing this conversation you are giving permission for me to tape this call" usually they talk over it but apparently its on file, cause they have gotten quiet. too bad..in texas i have to tell them. here they CAN put a lien on my house..which they have threatened me with..i said fine, go for it. they will threaten and scare you with anything they can..i did the 'dont call at work' thing..do that..in writing..CRRR so you have a record of it. i wont do the complete desist thing cause i think it may get me sued. mostly, they want to scare you..harass you, and its all mental tricks to get money. check with your state credit laws..to see what exactly they can do..whether its wage garnishment..if a AU is liable, etc. whychat and lady in red here will help you there with legal things. if your state requires a license..they cant collect without one. texas only requires a bond and i always check when a new one pops up. whychat has some great links to help you with laws in your state..and please post and ask anything you want and someone will try to help ya all they can. dont let them scare you tho. mostly they will lie and bluster and abuse you. expect it. if your state is non-sue able..whatever that is..so is your wifes, lol lol..i assume she lives with you? the lawyers must be licensed in your state to sue you. if the CA is in another state, they will find a local lawyer. if you dont mind..tell us the date of last activity...and your state. and welcome to the board!!! i have learned sooo much here.
