A collection agency cannot re-age a charged-off debt ! There are 2 different scenario's here, which one applies to you ?

IF you are behind on payments to a creditor (NOT a CA), and they put you on a hardship program to get caught up, they will typically 're-age' the debt to wipe out all previous lates and put the account into a 'current' status. That kind of re-aging is legal.

The other scenario, that of deliberately changed the Date of Last Activity on your credit report, is ILLEGAL RE-AGING and you can sue their butts off for it.
