Understand that Cat. They check your credit. But, I don't think they check credit before they send your income tax refund. I think it is common for them to make you pay off any charge offs, when asking for new credit (mortgage). They make you clean up your credit report in general. Back in the day (upteen years ago) if they saw anything bad, the loan was denied.......that was it.
