Validation is a moot point now, but they still would have to prove that you owed the money. They may be going away because they were counting on a default judgment.

DO NOT APPLY FOR ANY CREDIT or anything else that would put information on your credit reports. They may have found out that you do not have anything and decided not worth the trouble.
