One thing I learnt from losing the case - Make sure you have enough evidence with you to at least introduce some doubt into the judge's mind about whether you :

- really owe ALL the money
etc

The plaintiff's lawyer had the ONLY piece of evidence in court - the signed agreement. I had only legal defences that were defeated.

So take anything tangible to show why there is reasonable doubt. This may have worked for me but too late now.

Can you believe I actually had a statement showing that I owed nothing 1 month beyond the date they claimed I owed. But I thought better not to introduce anything that suggested I owed and just argue on the statutes alone. Proved to be a mistake. The judge definitely did not like pro-se telling him the law. So take any evidence that can trip up the other side as well as your purely legal defence.

Now I cannot even use the evidence I have in an appeal. :(
