How long can credit card companies continue to charge in fees after you have failed to pay? I had a credit card in 1998 which had a limit of 500 but my credit report is showing I owe them 1800!!!Is that legal? I know I owe them but the amount seems unfair because everyone who has gone over the credit limit knows the credit card stops accepting charges if you try charge after you exceeded the limit.
