Alegis Group offering a Charge Card!!!

My husband received an offer from Alegis Group (aka Sherman Acquisitions) offering to put a charged off debt from 1998 onto a Visa Card to pay this old debt off. Has anyone heard of this? Are they trying to re-age an old debt. They wanted lots of personal info.
Of course, we do not plan to accept their "pre-approved" offer!
