The SOL starts the date the account becomes deliquent and is never current again. I would think you could ask for a continuance in order to obtain legal counsel. You can also appeal if they do not grant a continuance. I was sued in small claims court, no attorneys. However, if they had obtained a judgement against me, I had 30 days to appeal, and that would have been with an attorney.
