Need some direction

Ok long story short. I paid a debt to a collection agency Stewart and Associates in GA, the person that I spoke with and paid it to stole the western union money $1500. This person was a temp and had since been fired. I have contacted the temp agency he worked for and am waiting to hear back from them and I will be getting an attorney. But what else should I do who all do I report this to, and what type of lawyer do I need? I just found all this out an hour ago and I am so frustrated I cant see straight. Please offer any and all suggestions any one may have.
