CA's are sleazebags.** "No lawyer willingly devolves to the level of collection attorney, the worst hack lawyer would sooner starve", as Maximo Abogado del Occidente intones. CA's are greasy-coin puke-bags hiding beneath the skirt of legal artfifice so as to appear legitimate. Treat them as criminals. Use every legal method to convince them you're more trouble then your're worth.
Check out Stanton Samenow, John Douglas, or their antecedent criminologists, Cesare Lombroso and Cesare Beccaria. Their description of the criminal mind, its inherent weakness, grasping behavior, willingness to do anything to get money, well describes those laughingly refered to as 'collections professionals'.
