? on time frame to Validate a debt

Is there a time frame set in case law in California or Fed law that I have to request that a CA Validate a Debt?
I got latter from Eskanos & Adler on a CC (direct merchants) debt that is well with inside the SOL the last payment I made to CC Company was about a 2 month ago. The letter states that I have 30 days from the day of receiving the letter to do this I go the letter a little over a month ago. Also the letter states that the CA has full knowledge of the C&D letter to the original CC company but still called my house to try and make arguments to pay the debt. I sent them a validation request by certified mail with return signer two day ago.
