Well all - wish me luck. I just filed my appearance and answer to Asset Acceptance, as Assignee of Providian v. Me lawsuit that was filed last week against Me. I have a hearing date on May 20th (the return date to answer was 5/6). I decided to walk the papers over to the law firm handling it just to get a look at the enemy. It is a definite "collection" mill. There were stacks of summons waiting to be sent out sitting at reception. I glanced at a couple - National this, Asset that, NCO, this. I will be sending them a very lengthy list of requests for production soon. I'm guessing with that many cases each day it would be a long shot that they will have all the documents I'm requesting they produce to back up their claim. I did owe Providian once 4 years ago but no where near the almost $5,000 this suit is claiming. Everyone cross their fingers that this gets tossed.
