definitely use all of whychats kind advice and links. i am curious who your "consumer advocate" was..as they got you sued. validation inside SOL is very dangerous. were you served? proper papers? check and make sure there is a suit on file. a lot will threaten you with one. what month in 2004 will your SOL be up? sure , you can close your checking account. be veryyy careful, some will freeze it. even before court, if they can convince a judge you may hide assets. if you can pay a lawyer, get one to fight this. dont cave so easily..just my own opinion. thats what they want..you to pay. the court will and can set up some type of payments if you ask..but make sure they can win first. most cant produce the proper documentation on your accounts..and all expect you to not show and they win 20 or 30 at a time by default. what date of last activity is on your credit report? you sound very close to SOL. sorry for the questions, but its needed to help and not give you wrong information. :) is the company suin you the owners of the account? are they using local , licensed lawyers? what court is it in? they need proper papers saying they bought the account. all kinds of things..............
