Prepaid Visa Card

Are cards which are pre-paid/funded Visa debit cards (no line of credit) legitimate? They are being advertized by places such as http://www.unsecured-credit-cards.net/debit.html.

I need to get a hotel room, and need a credit card for the room deposit. They won't take cash as a deposit. Any ideas?
