I had an account w/ Chase Mahattan that I was trying to reach a settlement on. I got a letter in Dec. w/ a offer I wished to accept. I called and informed them that I wished to accept the offer. They told me that I must pay it before the phone call ended. I told them a family member was to send it in and they wanted a letter stating the debt was settled. She said no offer is not valid now. I tried to get them agree to the Dec. offer and send it in writing, I had read that everything should always be in writing. I was just informed that my account was sold to Titan Recovery on April 30. My question is if a copy of the letter of the settlement offer and a check in the amount of the settlement offer, dated April 28, w/ paid in full written on the check was sent to Chase and they accept it, am I in the clear w/ this account?
