I had a local attorney tell me I could not file bk because I had too much. He obviously did not know what he was talking about because I DID FILE BK. Here in Pa, most people who file bk, do so with federal exemptions because Pa state exemptions allow for 0 homestead exemptions. BUT, I owned a house (no mortgage) and Pa is a tenants by the entirety state. Pa exemptions protected my house. So, I would assume that the attorney that told me I could not file bk was not familiar with Pa state exemptions. Why Chat posts here daily, and I would definitely believe Why Chat over a local attorney because he is in expert in credit law.
