How many accounts can be listed on one single lawsuit?

I was served this morning (yep, Happy Mother's Day to me!) with a summons for Magistrate Court for a total of $9000+ for one creditor. This is actually for three different accounts, but they have just added the three together for this lawsuit. Can they do that?
