WHO exactly were you paying until Feb. on the Discover account? It was likely another collection agency and NOT Discover. You really need to get your credit reports so you can see EXACTLY who is reporting what.

If they win a judgment against you,and your spouse was not on the account, they can not do anything to your spouse or any joint assets( unless you own a LOT of real estate or an expensive car). If you are primary on a joint bank account,(your name and ss# are listed first) they can garnish the account. If you are working and your spouse is also working and making over 50% of the family income, your pay can be garnished,if you have a car in your own name that is not financed and is worth WHOLESALE more than the amount of their claim + $1,500. they could seize it and sell it .
