Does anyone know anything about the Ascent card?

I got a letter from a collection agency, the Alegis Group, L.P. Basically it stated that it was now handling a debt that I owe them of 1200.00. It said that I could get a visa card that the debt will be applied to and then as soon as I pay the debt on the card off I can use the visa card. Does anyone know about this deal? Is it legit or are they trying to suck me in for some reason. Thanks :)
