I have good credit at the moment. I have about 3 credit cards in good standing, but I have over $73,000 in medical bills. I am wanting to close 2 of my credit accts and keep my AMEX.
I called AMEX to confirm what their policy regarding re-affirming and 1 person finally found their companies regulations which stated if the customers account is in good standing etc. and the customer wants to re-affirm, they must allow so. This person spent about 20 minutes trying to find the answer and did. I now call back 2 wks later to confirm and now someone tells me the opposite.

Could someone please tell me if I'm able to re-affirm my AMEX? I've had my account for 6 years/never late paying/always in good standing.

Like I said, the main reason I need to file is due to very large hospital and chemo-therapy bills.

Thank you in advance.

Regards
