Well sounds like the lien holder really screwed up!!! If you or your spouse have recieved the title there is no longer a lien being held on it, if you look at the title it will only have your name your spouse's or both, by law a lien holder cannot release the title with a lien. You can verify this with the DMV or go online to your local DMV they should have some info . The only recourse they have is to pursue the remaining amount owed with you, they have no right or claim to the collertal since they sent you the title. If they would try to repo, which hopefully they are smarter than that they would be commiting a felony since the car in which you hold title to is yours, (Actualy it would still be yours even if they held the title possesion is 9/10th's of the law in any state, thats why they hire repo men to steal it back )any way you are in a good position my friend, pay them what you can when you can theres nothing they can do. good luck
