Red flags on bank account

Sometimes I wonder if these people are all in cahoots! I went to my bank about putting "red flag" on my account which I told them only recieves funds from SSI.
They didn't know what I was talking about, and further, they said a creditor could just go get a judgment to garnish my account without even letting me know! I informed them that this is against the law (both state and Fed) and they could be in hot water if they didn't realize this. I was pretty steamed because they seemed to take pleasure in telling me my SSI isn't secure.
So they are going to call me back. Any comments? This is Bank of the West in NM. I wanted to tell everybody because many folks have told me my SSI is secure and that apparently is not true as far as the banks are concerned. So don't take it for granted that the law is going to protect you!
